Washington, Jun 16: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran and Israel will soon reach a ceasefire deal, drawing parallels to what he described as his past success in brokering peace between India and Pakistan.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump said, “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal, just like I got India and Pakistan to make.” He credited US trade leverage and his diplomacy for calming tensions between the two South Asian neighbours, though India has repeatedly rejected his claims, stating Pakistan alone sought a ceasefire understanding.

Trump asserted that his interventions had halted global conflicts in his first term — including between Serbia and Kosovo, and Egypt and Ethiopia over the Nile dam dispute — but lamented not receiving due credit. “Many calls and meetings are now taking place. I do a lot, and never get credit for anything, but that’s OK, the PEOPLE understand,” he wrote, ending with, “MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!”
He also told reporters that Iran and Israel “might have to fight it out” before any deal materializes, as he departed for the G7 summit in Canada.
Meanwhile, the Iran-Israel conflict entered its third day on Sunday. As per Iranian officials, 224 people have died so far, while Israel has reported 14 fatalities. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue operations until Iran’s nuclear and missile threats are neutralized. Iran, in turn, warned of a “devastating response” to Israeli attacks.
