AISATS sacks 4 officials over party video after AI 171 crash

New Delhi, Jun 27: Four senior employees of AISATS, Air India's airport gateway services provider, have been asked to resign after a video showing a party inside the company’s Gurugram office surfaced online. The celebration reportedly took place just days after the tragic crash of Air India flight AI 171 in Ahmedabad that claimed 259 lives.

AISATS, a joint venture between Air India Ltd (Tata Group) and Singapore-based SATS Ltd, faced public backlash over the timing of the internal event. The company responded by taking disciplinary action and said it had also issued warnings to several other staff members involved.

In a statement, an AISATS spokesperson said, “At AISATS, we stand in solidarity with families affected by the tragic loss of AI 171 and deeply regret the lapse in judgment reflected in a recent internal video. The behaviour does not align with our values.”

The company reaffirmed its commitment to empathy and professionalism and said those responsible have been dealt with firmly.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash occurred on June 12, shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. The aircraft, bound for London, lost altitude and crashed into a residential complex near BJ Medical College. Only one passenger, an Indian-origin British national in seat 11A, survived the crash.
