Miami, Jul 5: A 26-year-old US police officer and Army reservist, Wildelis Rosa, died following complications from a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery in South Florida. The procedure, performed at Prestige Plastic Surgery Clinic on March 20, involved fat removal from 12 areas and reinjection into her buttocks. Rosa reportedly paid $7,495 for the surgery.
Her family grew concerned after she failed to respond to birthday wishes on March 22. The next morning, a friend found her unresponsive at a rental where she was recovering. Despite CPR efforts, she could not be revived.
The Miami-Dade medical examiner ruled the cause of death as a pulmonary embolism due to blood clots linked to cosmetic surgery. Rosa had complained of extreme pain, difficulty breathing, and a drop in blood pressure following the procedure.
Having recently returned from deployment in Kuwait, Rosa’s family now hopes her death serves as a warning about the dangers of such surgeries. Her case adds to a concerning trend, with 25 cosmetic surgery-related deaths recorded in Miami-Dade County over the past three and a half years.
