IIT Bombay student dies after fall from hostel terrace

Mumbai, Aug 2: A fourth-year student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay tragically died after falling from the terrace of Hostel 17 on the Powai campus in the early hours of Saturday.

The student, who belonged to the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Material Science and hailed from Delhi, fell around 1 am, according to police reports.

Campus authorities stated that the student was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and confirmed that no suicide note was found.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, and the student’s family has been informed. Police said they were alerted about the incident by the institute and are continuing further inquiries.
