Bengaluru, Aug 7: A scooter ridden by deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar during an inspection of the Hebbal flyover loop on August 5 has been found to have 34 traffic violation cases registered against it, with a total fine amounting to Rs 18,500, according to the Bengaluru traffic police website. However, Congress sources have clarified that the scooter does not belong to D K Shivakumar and that he rode it only during the inspection.
Meanwhile, the owner of the two-wheeler ridden by Shivakumar, has paid the traffic violation fine of Rs 18,500, police said on Thursday, August 7. According to traffic police, the vehicle owner personally appeared at the R T Nagar traffic police station on August 6 and paid the full amount of the fine, which was levied for 34 traffic rule violations linked to the scooter.

According to the traffic police website, the violations included riding without a helmet, using a mobile phone while riding, and entering restricted or one-way roads, among others.
It may be recalled, on August 5, Shivakumar shared a video on his official 'X' account (formerly Twitter), showing himself riding the scooter with a helmet. In the post, he announced that the Hebbal flyover loop would be opened for traffic.
He stated that the move aligns with the state government's efforts to build a ‘Better Bengaluru’, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and ensure smoother and faster commutes.
Meanwhile, the JD(S) launched a scathing attack against the deputy chief minister, urging the traffic police to first collect the pending fines related to the vehicle.
"Instead of posing for photos and making reels for publicity, first fulfil your ministerial responsibilities properly," JD(S) posted on X, criticising the DyCM.
