Jamshedpur, Aug 11: The Indian Army team staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Ladakh FC 4–2 in their final Group C match of the 134th Durand Cup in Jamshedpur. Despite the victory, the win was not enough to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
Needing a decisive win, the Army team started strong, but it was Ladakh FC who took the lead. In the 22nd minute, P. Kamalesh scored a penalty after being fouled by the goalkeeper, and a second goal from Vignesh in the 36th minute put them up 2–0.
Facing elimination, the Indian Army team mounted a remarkable comeback. Sama scored with a header in the 41st minute, and Abhishek equalized just before halftime. The momentum continued into the second half, with Christopher Kamei converting a penalty in the 51st minute to give the Army a 3–2 lead. Just four minutes later, Rahul Ramakrishnan sealed the win with a close-range header.
Although the Indian Army finished with six points and a +2 goal difference, they fell short of claiming one of the two best second-placed spots, bringing their tournament run to an end.
