Raipur, Aug 14: In a major success for security forces, two senior Naxalites carrying a combined reward of Rs 35 lakh were killed in an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Mohla–Manpur–Ambagarh Chowki district on Wednesday.
According to Superintendent of Police YP Singh, the gunfight took place in the Banda Pahad Forest under Madanwada police station limits when a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) was conducting an anti-Naxal operation. An Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) unit also provided support.

The operation, launched on Tuesday night following intelligence inputs about the movement of senior Maoist cadres, led to a fierce exchange of fire on Wednesday afternoon as security forces cordoned off the Banda Pahad area near Retegaon village amid heavy rain.
After the firing subsided, the bodies of two slain Naxalites — identified as Vijay Reddy and Lokesh Salame — were recovered from the spot.
