Udupi, Aug 23: Karnataka home minister Dr G Parameshwar has officially confirmed the arrest of the alleged Mask Man, a case that has drawn widespread public and media attention.
Addressing the press, the Minister said, “Yes, the arrest has taken place. He is in police custody. I can only confirm that much at this stage. Since the investigation is ongoing, it is not possible to provide more information now.”
Parameshwar explained that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is leading the probe and will continue to work independently. “The SIT is handling the case. I will receive further details from them, but until the investigation is complete, we cannot disclose anything. Any premature revelation will hamper the SIT’s work,” he stressed.

When asked about the larger network behind the incident, the Minister assured that the investigation would uncover it in due course. “What kind of network is involved will certainly come to light. But I cannot say when the SIT investigation will conclude. Even the Sujatha Bhat case is still under inquiry, and those reports too cannot be made public until they are ready,” he added.
Parameshwar also addressed political reactions surrounding the case. “BJP leaders may make several allegations and different kinds of statements may surface, but investigations cannot be carried out based on such remarks. The SIT will submit its final report, and until then I cannot comment on their findings,” he clarified.
On legal proceedings, he pointed out that a stay order had been obtained earlier, which had slowed action. “The accused had taken a stay order. Once that is vacated, further steps can be taken. Under which section the arrest has been made, only the SIT has the details. The probe began on the basis of the complaint and witness statements,” he noted.
Reiterating his stand, the home minister concluded, “I cannot reveal everything the SIT has shared with me. The only thing I can say for certain is that the arrest has happened. Beyond that, the process must take its course.”
