Doha, Aug 24: In a major step to strengthen Qatar’s media sector, Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) and Al Jazeera Media Network have signed a cooperation agreement focusing on training, knowledge-sharing, and long-term collaboration.

The pact was inked at QMC headquarters by Abdullah Ghanem al-Binali al-Mohannadi, Director of International Co-operation and Planning, and Iman al-Amri, Director of the Al Jazeera Media Institute. Senior officials from both organisations attended the ceremony.

Al-Mohannadi said the initiative reflects QMC’s vision of building a national media ecosystem that aspires to meet and surpass international standards.

Under the agreement, QMC employees will benefit from specialised training programmes, hands-on practice at Al Jazeera’s studios, joint workshops, and technical consultations. The deal also provides exclusive privileges for QMC staff on training courses and production services.

Mariam Suwailem, Head of Training at QMC, stressed that the partnership ensures staff training keeps pace with global media advancements, equipping professionals with both technical and creative expertise.

On her part, al-Amri said the Institute is committed to using its expertise to help Qatari media professionals adapt to the rapidly changing media landscape.

The collaboration reflects a shared vision between QMC and Al Jazeera Media Institute — to nurture a new generation of Qatari media professionals capable of shaping the country’s media narrative on both regional and international platforms.
