Mangalore, Feb 6: On Sunday February 5, the policemen of Pandeshwar police station here arrested Ratish alias Rajesh (23) from Akash Bhavan in the city, for his alleged involvement with the murder of Sundar Poojary from Kolya, Ullal. Ratish reportedly confessed that he is a homosexual, and that he killed Poojary, who was already known to him, as the latter did not favourably reciprocate to his sexual advances. Ratish works as cleaner of buses, and the policemen have confiscated mobile phone and some other movables from his possession.

Sundar Poojary, who had come to the city to buy vegetables on January 20 this year, had not returned home. His body had been found in an abandoned well near Old Kent Road, Pandeshwar in the city about ten days later. As the banian of the deceased was found to have been tightened around his neck, the policemen had concluded it to be a case of murder.

The policemen have found that Ratish had earlier been imprisoned relating to theft of railway goods. He also faces cases relating to a number of criminal activities in the past. He was also named as an accused in a case of assault within Barke police station limits.

During the questioning, Ratish reportedly revealed that he was the culprit behind the murder of Ravindra Shetty in Modern lodge at K S Rao Road here in 2010. Although a case had been booked about this murder in Bunder police station then, the policemen had not been able to make any headway in the case.

The team of policemen led by inspector, Tilakchandra, has been appreciated by the police commissioner, who has announced reward for cracking two cases in a swift operation.
