Beltangady, Sep 3: A Dharmaraksha Jatha was held on September 2 under the leadership of former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa, condemning the misinformation being spread about Dharmasthala.

The jatha, which began from Shivamogga, reached Dharmasthala in the evening with more than 1,500 devotees arriving in over 200 vehicles. On this occasion, Eshwarappa was felicitated with a shawl by the temple administration. Water brought from the holy rivers Tunga, Ganga, and Netravati was sprinkled for purification at Dharmasthala.

Speaking later at Amritavarshini hall, Eshwarappa said, “We have come here to purify Dharmasthala. We brought Ganga water from Kashi, Tunga from Shivamogga, and Netravati from Dharmasthala itself. We sprinkled the holy waters along the way for purification. Had the culprits been arrested immediately, the matter would not have escalated this far. Now, the truth is coming out from their own mouths.”

He further said, “It was a mistake on the part of the government to let them go free till now. Foreign funds have been involved and anti-national forces are hand in glove. The SIT has already revealed much information. Is it even possible to dig an 18-foot pit and bury a body? This case must be handed over to the NIA. Hindu dharma must be protected, and I am ready to sacrifice my life for it.”

Accusing SDPI of backing Sameer, said to be behind the case, Eshwarappa alleged, “Where is the money coming from to pay lawyers? Invisible foreign hands are clearly at work here.”
