Kasargod, Sept 8: A 22-year-old aeronautical engineer, who had returned home for the Onam holidays, died in a tragic road accident on Monday afternoon after his motorbike overturned and crashed into a bus stop pole at Iriyanni Manjakal.

The deceased has been identified as M Jitesh, a native of Vattantattu in Bethurpara.

According to police, the accident occurred while he was riding from Kanathur towards Iriyanni. He reportedly lost control of the two-wheeler, which then veered off the road and hit a bus shelter pole, causing the bike to overturn.

Jitesh, who was employed as an aeronautical engineer in Bengaluru, had arrived in Kasaragod a few days ago to celebrate Onam with his family.

“He was on his way locally when the incident occurred. The impact was severe and he died on the spot,” said a police official.

The Adhur police carried out the inquest and have registered a case. The body was taken to Kasaragod General Hospital where a post-mortem examination was conducted. It was later released to the family for final rites.
