Kasargod: Outbreak of Violence - Police Resort to Caning

Kasargod, Feb 9: Police on Tuesday February 7 resorted to lathi charge following incidents of violence that erupted in the district. They also opened tear gas shells to control the mob.

Over five persons were injured in stone pelting and stabbing incidents. An auto rickshaw was set on fire at Parekatte and miscreants damaged a two-wheeler at Kadappur in Nellikunje, here.  Many houses were damaged in the stone pelting incident.

The miscreants assaulted a motor cyclist and his pillion rider at Kadappura junction.  The injured has been identified as Rafiq (28) and Jarshad(18) who were admitted to Kasargod hospital. 

The miscreant also stabbed two youths at Kudlu. The wounded have been identified as Ahmed Jabir Palla(19) and his friend Jabir Parekatte(18). 

They set ablaze an auto that was parked near the house of Laxmisha Parekatte and damaged furniture and other property. The damage is estimated to be around Rs 3.5 lac. 

Security has been beefed-up in the city.  The town police registered cases against 200 people in this regard.
