Kuwait, Sep 22: Kuwait Brahmavar Welfare Association (KBWA) celebrated Monthi Fest with their members and families on September 19, at a Chalet in Kabd, Kuwait.
The festivity began with welcome by cultural secretary Roshan D’Souza, followed by singing the theme song of the association by the members.
The veneration of Mother Mary, a practice passed down through decades, was strikingly witnessed as the statue of mother Mary and new harvest was taken in procession with reverence. As the hymn Moryeik Hogalsiya followed, children honoured Mother Mary’s statue showering it with flowers with utmost devotion. L J D’Souza and team led everyone into a meaningful prayer service.
























































































The joyous celebration was followed by lighting of the lamp and thereafter the ritual of consuming Noven- drink prepared by mixing the kernel with milk- was served to everyone after the eldest among the community did the honors. Sugarcane was distributed to all children on this occasion.
President, Roshan Rodrigues welcomed the gathering and thanked everyone for their presence, while appreciating and being grateful for the efforts and support of the members. Secretary, Chethana Menezes, presented the annual report on all activities done and contributions made throughout the year.
Valerian Saldhana addressed the gathering by sharing an inspiring message about the importance of the nativity feast.
Roshan D’Souza skilfully compered the event, captivating the audience and keeping the atmosphere lively with a variety of spot prizes. Few members of the association showcased their dancing skills with dazzling dance performances.

The highlight of the day was, without doubt, the ‘Noven Jevan’. Members relished the various delicacies served on banana leaves that were voluntarily prepared by the association members on the same day at the venue. Alu dento, kuvalo, sone/tendli, beans, karathen, ever-popular authentic coconut fish curry and Vorn were a true feast for the senses.
Vice president, Joel Almeida proposed the vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts that went into organizing the event and mentioned that none of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of sponsors from within the association.
As the event came to an end, one thing was clear, KBWA upheld the roots by coming together in a vibrant ritual of faith, tradition and unity reminding them of the ties that bind all to their cultural roots.
Over 70 members took part in the celebration with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. The feast of the family -Monthi Fest had all the ingredients of a perfect community gathering taking home delightful memories.
