Mangaluru, Oct 25: Vriddhi Industry Academia Collaboration, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences in collaboration with Swastika National Business School, Mangaluru, supported by JCI Mangalore Samrat, & MSEZ, on the occasion of JCI ZONECON KAHALE 2025, organized an awareness camp on CPR and a free health camp on October 19, Deeksha Devadiga, organizer and faculty of Swastika National Business School, welcomed the gathering.
Surya Narayana Rao, president MSEZ, Ltd, along with Dr Raghavendra Holla, chairman of Swastika, inaugurated the event and wished well for the success of the programme. Prof Dr Jacintha Veigas, organizer from Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, and JCI executives were present. The nursing interns actively participated in monitoring the blood pressure and checking GRBS.













Dr Mithla & Dr Anup from KS Hegde Medical Academy extended their support in terms of providing referrals after careful examination of the data of the patients who attended the camp. Five patients were referred for further treatment. Around 25 patients who were on treatment had their check-up done. Remaining beneficiaries had values within the normal range and were provided with incidental health education for health promotion and wellbeing.
A total of 110 people benefited from this health camp. The event ended at 2.00 pm. A few equipment was sponsored by Swastika school to Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, which will be of use in providing technical skills to the student nurses and will also be used while providing services to the community.
The nursing interns actively participated in teaching CPR - when and how to perform, and demonstrated to small groups using a CPR mannequin. The participants were taught in detail on what is CPR, what are the prerequisites, how to perform quick assessment and to confirm that the patient has an arrest, to identify the right location and technique for compression, differentiating between right and wrong compression, how to ensure safety of self and the victim, how to call for help and to initiate CPR without delay and how to assume transfer of compression by another rescuer. A total of 110 people benefited from this awareness camp.
This event was a great opportunity for the organizers and the students to get to know people, to collaborate in conducting the awareness camp. The beneficiaries were highly enthusiastic to learn about CPR. All of them felt that it is a life-saving measure and will certainly contribute to promoting health and wellbeing, especially in the rural communities. Participants also felt that it is the social responsibility of every individual to get empowered in CPR and to take the lead at time of need. The participants expressed that the programme was well organized, informative, and useful.
