Cairo, Oct 26: Egyptian foreign minister Badr Abdelatty and Turkish foreign minister Hakan Fidan have underscored the importance of upholding the Gaza ceasefire to preserve regional peace and stability, during a phone conversation held on Saturday.
The two leaders discussed preparations for an international conference on Gaza’s recovery and reconstruction, to be hosted by Cairo in November, with Abdelatty inviting Turkey’s active participation and support for the event.
According to reports, both ministers reviewed ongoing Egypt–Turkey coordination in monitoring the ceasefire, in close collaboration with regional and international partners.

Reaffirming their commitment to the positive momentum in bilateral relations, Abdelatty and Fidan agreed to strengthen cooperation across political, economic, and investment sectors, while maintaining close consultation on regional and global issues of mutual concern.
They also emphasized that deeper diplomatic collaboration would bolster security, peace, and shared interests across the Middle East.
During the discussion, the ministers reviewed the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and the recent Gaza ceasefire agreement, brokered under the plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. The ceasefire, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States, came into effect on October 10.
The first phase of the agreement includes a prisoner exchange, the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and the partial withdrawal of Israeli forces. However, despite the truce, Israel and Hamas have accused each other of violations, raising concerns over its fragility.
Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s firm commitment to ensuring the full implementation of the ceasefire, including a permanent halt to hostilities and the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian, medical, and relief assistance to civilians in Gaza.
He further highlighted the necessity of continued Egypt–Turkey coordination in overseeing the various stages of the agreement, in partnership with other regional and international stakeholders, to secure a sustainable peace framework in the region.
