Mangaluru, Nov 2: The LKG children of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru had a joyful and engaging time exploring letters through fun and creative activities.
To make learning exciting, the teacher placed objects inside a mystery bag. One by one, the children, picked an object, named it and were able to connect it to the first letter with its sound, followed by placing the object to its letter. Their curiosity was at its peak as they picked up new things. They also sang the Jolly Phonics rhymes, linking the sounds to the objects they had explored.

To strengthen the learning an activity using chapati dough was introduced where they revised all the capital letters from A to Z and shaped them using with great enthusiasm. These hands-on experiences help them learn through the VAKT methodology, where learning becomes quicker.
Further, the children took part in an exciting 'Fun with Numbers' activity where they learned to count numbers from 1 to 40 using the abacus and other play-way methods. They explored the concept of number value using the abacus and marbles, which helped them understand the idea of 'how many' and improved their counting and quantity skills.
In another activity, the children made colourful kites using bright paper, straws, and streamers. After completing their kites, the children went outside to fly them. The sky looked down cheerfully as the children were flying their kites and were filled with joy and excitement. Later, they took part in a Pick and Speak activity based on theme 'The Kite' where each child spoke a few lines about 'My Kite'.
These hands-on activities nurtured joy, creativity and self-confidence in every LKG child of the school.
