Mangaluru, Nov 8: St Aloysius Pre-University College, hosted its annual inter-school and inter-collegiate cultural fest, Pre-Unique 2025 – ‘Renesentia: Igniting the Past, Inspiring the Future’, with great zeal and enthusiasm. The two-day fest, held on November 6 and 7, celebrated youthful creativity and excellence, bringing together nearly 1300 students from over 50 Schools & PU Colleges. The event provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase their talents across a wide spectrum of artistic, literary, and intellectual events.
The theme ‘Renesentia: Igniting the Past, Inspiring the Future’ reflected the fest’s vision of drawing inspiration from the past while shaping a promising future. The inaugural ceremony commenced with a soulful invocation, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp and a graceful welcome dance. Vilma Fernandes, vice principal of commerce and arts, extended a cordial welcome, urging participants to rediscover themselves and dream beyond limitations.









































































The chief guest, Mouna Guddemane, noted Kannada actress and alumna of the institution, fondly recalled her college experiences, particularly her participation in Pre-Unique. She encouraged students to ‘take one step at a time’ and to ‘dream big,’ emphasizing that true achievement begins with aspiration.
In his presidential address, Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions, commended Guddemane for being a beacon of inspiration. He stressed the value of mutual encouragement, urging participants to appreciate and support one another irrespective of competition, stating that the true essence of ‘Renesentia’ lies in collective growth and appreciation.
The inaugural ceremony was compered by Ashel Fernandes, and Vaishnavi Hegde, student convenor of Pre-Unique 2025, proposed the vote of thanks.
The fest featured an extensive range of competitions spanning dance, music, drama, literature, fine arts, and intellectual pursuits. Events included Mr and Ms Pre-Unique, Pencil Sketching (Strokes of Shakti), Bharatanatyam (Nrithyanjali), E-Sports (Clash of Consoles), English Poetry Writing (Quill Sonnet), Kannada Quiz, Mehendi (Threads of Henna), Collage (Indian Mosaic), Dance Drama (Theatrical Spotlight), and Face Painting (Colour Expression).
Other events such as Bridal Makeup (Wedding Glam), Fashion Show (Walk Velvet), Mock Press (Persona Play), Treasure Hunt (Checkpoint Challenge), Reel Making (Lens Clip), Hard Sell (Pitch a Sale), Jewellery Making (Ornamenta), Mad Reporting (Headlines in Action), News Bulletin (The Chronicles), Build a Nation, Hindi Singing (Divya Gaayan), JAM (Just A Minute), Yakshagana, Yoga (Pose Perfect), Debate (Conflict Confronts), Folk Dance (Loka Nritya), Poster Presentation (Heritage Showcase), Quiz (Brain Blitz), and Science Still Model (Science Rebound) added to the diversity and excitement of the event.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Remona Evette Pereira, renowned Bharatanatyam artiste and Golden Girl of Mangalore, who holds the world record for a 170-hour Bharatanatyam dance marathon, recognized by the Golden Book of Records. In her inspiring address, Ms Pereira highlighted the importance of embracing individuality and authenticity, urging students to focus on self-expression rather than competition. Her words, “Perform with your heart, not for trophies... Courage is not about being perfect; it’s about showcasing your uniqueness,” resonated deeply with the audience. She was felicitated by the dignitaries for her remarkable achievement and artistic excellence.
The event also witnessed the felicitation of student convenors and winners of various competitions. In the High School Category, St Theresa’s School bagged the Overall Championship, while Cambridge School emerged as runners-up. In the PU Category, St Agnes PU College claimed the Overall Championship, followed by Canara PU College as runners-up.
The fest was graced by Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, principal; Fr Anthony Derrick SJ, campus minister; vice principals Murali Krishna G M and Vilma Fernandes; deans Kiran Shetty and Inas Dias; and staff convenors Niha Fahim Noor, Chitra S, Bhavya Suvarna, Vidhyalaxmi R, Dr Archana Shenoy K, Shane Pereira, and Himanshu M H.
Niha Fahim Noor, staff convenor of Pre-Unique 2025, proposed the vote of thanks at the closing ceremony, which was compered by Anvila Neora D’Souza.
Concluding on a high note, Pre-Unique 2025 – ‘Renesentia’ stood as a magnificent celebration of youth, creativity, and collaboration, truly igniting the past and inspiring the future, while etching another chapter of excellence in the proud legacy of St Aloysius Pre-University College.
