Mangaluru, Nov 26: The second day of the 6th Graduation Day of the Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM), a constituent unit of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), witnessed 974 students from BCA, BSc, MCA and MSc programmes receiving their degrees at the Yendurance Zone, Deralakatte, on November 26.
Dr B Ravi, director of NITK, Surathkal and the chief guest of the ceremony, asserted that the graduates were stepping into a world changing faster than anything they were taught, driven by automation and artificial intelligence. He noted that permanent jobs could no longer be guaranteed in any field unless relevant skill sets were developed.

He called on students to sharpen what makes them distinctly human intuition, empathy, experience and skill and pair these with digital and AI competencies. Describing Mangaluru as a fast-emerging growth hub with superior living standards, he urged graduates to build their futures locally while leveraging global opportunities.
Guest of honour Kishore Alva, executive director and president, Adani Group, lauded YIASCM for shaping responsible citizens and nurturing a research-oriented academic culture. Urging students to be curious, courageous and lifelong learners, he said the world increasingly needs responsible, compassionate individuals. He also acknowledged the silent efforts of teachers and reiterated the region’s tradition of religious harmony. Encouraging students especially young women to explore entrepreneurship in agriculture, he reminded them to remain grateful to their parents, teachers and institutions whose blessings make anything possible.
Guest of honour Dr B T Nandish, controller of examinations, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), mentioned that a degree symbolises a commitment to contribute to society, not merely a qualification. Using the analogy of the bamboo tree that takes years to root before rising rapidly, he underlined the value of patience and depth in personal growth. He urged graduates to pursue significance over success, build confidence and critical thinking, and uplift others through their journey. “You are ambassadors of Yenepoya,” he said, calling on them to carry the institution’s virtues with pride.
Guest of honour Prof Arun A Bhagwath, CEO, Yenepoya International School, KSA, highlighted the milestone of this batch being the first to graduate under NEP 2020. He appreciated the faculty members for their extensive effort in reconstructing the curriculum and aligning it with global requirements. Warning that AI and automation will reshape the education system in the next decade, he emphasised the need for upskilling, deep-skilling and strengthening cognitive, psychomotor and innovative abilities. He also touched on global technological rivalries, including advances in quantum computing, and urged students to remain motivated, continuous learners who contribute meaningfully to society.
Presenting the institutional report, president of the ceremony, Prof Jeevan Raj, principal (I/c), reflected on the dedication and growth of the graduating batch. He said the students’ achievements were a testament to YIASCM’s vibrant academic environment and the collaborative spirit of its faculty.
Prof Shareena P, vice principal and dean faculty of Commerce and Management, introduced the dignitaries and delivered the welcome address. Narayan Sukumar A, vice principal, proposed the vote of thanks. Prof Ismail B, dean faculty of Science; Dr Vasanth Kumar, dean faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; heads of Departments, PG coordinators, ACOEs, faculty members, non-teaching staff, parents and guardians were present on this occasion.
The ceremony was compered by Pinakini Shetty, Charithra and Dr Sareen Sheikh and concluded with the National Anthem.
