Mangaluru: Annual Sports Meet 2025 held at Rosario Institutions

Mangaluru, Dec 4: The annual sports meet of Rosario Institutions was held on November 29, at the school grounds. The event commenced with an inauguration ceremony, where the school flag was unfurled. The sports lamp, blessed at Rosario Cathedral, was carried by the athletes and handed over to the chief guest, Mohamed Sali (Alumni, Rosario High School, 1973-74 batch), symbolising the beginning of the sports meet.

In his address, Sali shared memories of his days as a sportsman at the school and credited the institution for shaping the person he is today. He recalled how the education he received 50 years ago taught him discipline and helped him become a successful entrepreneur.

Fr Valerian Fernandes, priest of Rosario Cathedral, delivered the presidential address. He underscored the significance of self-esteem and self-discipline in becoming a successful person and extended his best wishes to the athletes.

The day’s events began with a parade by the students, followed by a series of athletic competitions. Jacintha Moras, headmistress of Rosario High School, welcomed the gathering, while Mavis Serao, headmistress of Rosario Higher Primary School, proposed the vote of thanks. Jenevieve D’Souza acted as the event’s compère.

The closing ceremony was held in the evening, where individual champions were felicitated. The evening programme was compered by Laveena D’Souza, and Neetha Menezes proposed the vote of thanks. The event was a grand success under the leadership and guidance of physical director Manjunath.

Fr Valerian Fernandes, the heads of the institution, the physical director, staff, and students attended the concluding ceremony. The programme concluded with the national anthem, the ceremonial lowering of the flag, and the extinguishing of the sports lamp, marking the end of a memorable event.
