Mangalore: Rape Case - Ravindra Gadadi Removed from ACP Post

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (PS)

Mangalore, Feb 20: In an interesting development, ACP Ravindra Gadadi has been relieved from his post and appointed as special duty officer in the city police commissioner's office.

The move comes in the wake of former mayor Ashraf's detention on Sunday February 19 night in connection with the rape case, wherein a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped for almost a year by two men. The accused have been absconding since then.

Speaking to reporters, police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh confirmed the news and said that Gadadi has been relieved of his post as 'he did not handle the rape case properly.' He also said that the accused Wahid and Mubarak could have been arrested if appropriate action had been initiated.

Following the news of a minor girl's revelation that she had been raped by the two men repeatedly since April, former mayor Ashraf was taken for questioning by Gadadi on Sunday night on allegations that he had given shelter to the rape accused. A large crowd gathered at the Bunder police station where Ashraf was taken, and protested against the police action. Seemanth Kumar Singh also had arrived on the spot and taken Gadadi to task, it is learnt.

However, sources said that Gadadi had only followed the orders of the police commissioner in taking Ashraf for questioning.

In India most of the clean and unbiased officers get transferred, I am unaware of the true picture in this particular case, as i have read a few comments, people here have more information than the cops, but none are able to help in finding the culprits. A simple question, if the Ex mayor knew the wherabouts of the alleged offenders, why didnt he inform the cops immediately as a true citizen of the country, infact he asked the alleged rapists to surrender themselves, its a joke...Something fishy somewhere. Dal mein kuch kaala hai...

There are so many cases happening without the knowledge of anyone. Some guys for pleasure try to take everything from the girl and ditch them one day after they are fully satisfied and the girl will keep Quiet for the sake of future of her life. Some innocent girls suffer finally. It is the duty of parents to keep a vigil over their children and take good care and teach them how to fight such incidents.

Dear politicians, use some of your money which is earned from the people for the sake of people by conducting some seminars among uneducated as well as educated people how to tackle with such incidents. Give some free karate classes, kungfu etc. One punch on his face and the boys is out! How is that!

PC SeemantSingh should be removed from post ! What wrong did Gadadi do? He had just fearlessly, without hesitation taken action with reasons on behalf of a NKar labourer's girl. Is this the price he has to pay for doing the right thing? What a shame!

India shining or not but definetly Mangalore-Bangalore shines brighter than sun. Unfortunately the shining is so much, the poor general people suffer and suffocate. Do not deviate the focus from the original rape incident and case. As these type developments and more will come out in PolitRics to devide the public support. Eventhough nothing can bring back the dignity of the victim still pray Justice may prevail atleast in good minded people's support.

We live in country like India where justice bows for money, politics plays major role in all crimes, poor people struggle to survive, rape victims wait for justice from day one, terrorist who killed so many innocent is still alive (eating biryani according to some sources),ministers watch porn in assembly, un-empolyees join some organization beat up the gals in pub and say “dude we are just cleaning the society” and common people just dream about justice.
In most of the case India sucks big time. Money, politics, power play major role. There’s no value for human lives. Sometimes I feel I was unfortunate to be an Indian.
Hope the gal gets justice(5% chances) and culprits are punished

Mr Louis Kuwait,Yes there is a grave mistake in handling the case By ACP.Certainly procedural mistake.Think of Mr Ashraf an Congress leader and Ex Mayor of Mangalore Corporation and should he is in wrong side would Govt of BJP, I mean District admin leave him Scot free? And secondly, Can you imagine, an ex mayor(Ashraf)afford to harbor the culprits like Minor's rapist?Police think tank realized the mistake and taken immediate action which is very harsh (reliving ACP rank to a Special Duty officer in Police Commissonerate!)

There might be serious laps(Bias) in the part of ACP's action which warranted unprecedented rectification from the commissioner of Police.I am not sure tomorrow may the transfer of ACP might be revoked when KESARI walas want this case to be moved otherwise....

Very intersting comment from Mr.Louis and Mr.Ismail.When I had gone through Mr.Ismail's comment,I remembered TOI's article where one poor house owner informed Mumbai poilce about notorious wanted terrorist Riaz Bhatkal. Riaz was staying in his flat. When police came to arrest Riaz,he escaped. Then great Mumbai police arrested house owner for sheltering terrorist. He is still in jail. Here in Mangalore, police should have handled the case dipolomatically. End Result..Bajil Sajjige..

If Ismail K. Perinje's comments were true. ACP did a mistake. How can he take Ashraf to police station? Just bcz he informed whereabouts of culprits? It's so sad that ACP was targeting Muslim community. Without any solid reason Seamant Kumar will not transfer him? He too is answerable to his supiriors. I feel he has taken right step. Instead of catching the culprits he tried to insult Ashraf.

Govt should strengthen the law for the rapist, then only such things will reduce or otherwise this will repeat. And we need a complete change in our judicial system. Hats off Seemanth Kumarji.

Police commissioner might have told him to search Ashraf house for the culprits. Instead he bought Ashraf to police station for questioning. That's why he has been transferred. I don't understand why the girl kept mum for sn year? May be they were supporting her family with money. Dal me kuch kala hai. Shayad sub kuch kala hai, dal hi nahi hai.

What is happening in Mangalore? First people protest when law is trying to take right course of action. The official who made efforts to enquire on the issue is transferred abruptly. This shows the weakness of the district administration and the political pressure which is put on the police force.

Very interesting twist to minor rape case in Mangalore which exposes that all is not well among the police top brass. In fact when Ashraf(Ex mayor) was contacted by accused,Ex- mayor advised them to surrender to officials and Ex mayor himself informed intelligence wing of police about their(accused) whereabouts! In turn Ashraf was fixed and detained briefly and released when pressure from public mounted up.Is police department handled this sensitive issue as per merit?Instead politicized, used to score personal vendetta, and extortion.Daijiworld's quick follow up in this case is appreciated.Handling of Ashraf issue reveals that DK police not takes serious of issue instead uses the issue for other unknown trivial reasons.Home Minister/DGP must take serious note of the incident to cull such kind of biased incidents in future here itself.
