Hyderabad, Jan 2: Kannada actress Bhoomi Shetty, who is making her Tollywood debut as the lead in the upcoming film ‘Mahakali’, will be seen locking horns with Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna, who plays a powerful antagonist in the film.

Akshaye Khanna has been cast as Asura Guru ‘Shukracharya’, marking his first-ever Telugu film. The actor has already joined the shooting schedule, and director Pooja Kolluru shared pictures from the sets on her Instagram handle, confirming his involvement in the project.

‘Mahakali’ is the second directorial venture of Pooja Kolluru, who earlier directed Martin Luther King. The film is being presented under the banner of the Prashanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), headed by HanuMan fame director Prashanth Varma.

The film is touted to be a women-centric action drama, with Bhoomi Shetty playing a strong and intense central character.

Akshaye Khanna was last seen in Bollywood film ‘Dhurandhar’, where he portrayed the villainous role of Rehman. The film went on to create a massive impact at the box office, reportedly crossing the Rs 1,000-crore mark. His performance received widespread critical acclaim.

With a powerful cast and a mythological backdrop, Mahakali has generated strong buzz, especially with the clash of Bhoomi Shetty’s fierce avatar against Akshaye Khanna’s Asura character.
