Mumbai, Sep 14: An old clip from an international interview featuring globally acclaimed actress Aishwarya Rai has resurfaced on the internet, bringing attention to her views on Indian family values and her choice of living with her parents despite her massive success—a concept often seen as alien to Western culture.

In the viral video, the actress can be seen defending her choice while questioning the prevailing American practice of children moving out of their parents' homes at a young age.

When asked about the cultural norm, she said, "I wouldn't understand why, but that's probably because that's the way of life there. Would that generally be so? Would that be like everybody has to or does move out? Is there like a social rule?"

Upon being informed that a 30-year-old woman in the US with a successful career and good financial standing would typically not live with her parents, Aishwarya clarified her perspective: "By virtue of my job, I'm traveling out. You get to spend very little time with your family. We hardly get to meet each other, except on the one odd day we really get to spend time and have dinner together. And that's rare, and we cherish it."

When further asked if she considered herself an independent woman, she firmly responded, "Yes, yes. And I don't see any reason why moving away from your family is a statement of independence."
