Seoul, Jan 3: Global K-pop sensation BTS is set to make its long-awaited comeback on March 20, marking the group’s official return after nearly four years, their management agency BigHit Music announced on Friday.

Confirming the date in a post on social media platform X, BigHit Music wrote, “March 20th comeback confirmed.” The return follows the completion of South Korea’s mandatory military service by all seven members of the group — RM, Jin, Jimin, V, Suga, Jung Kook and j-hope.

Rapper Suga was the final member to be released from service, having completed his duties as a social service agent in June 2025, an alternative arrangement reportedly chosen due to a shoulder injury. The remaining six members served in the army.

BTS staggered their enlistments, allowing members to pursue solo projects during the group’s hiatus. Last summer, the band had hinted at a world tour and announced plans for a new group album slated for release in spring 2026, with work on the project beginning in July 2025.

“Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member’s thoughts and ideas,” the group had said in a statement, adding that they were approaching the album with the same mindset they had at the start of their journey.

The upcoming release will be BTS’ first new album since their 2022 anthology Proof. It follows their 2021 Japanese compilation BTS, the Best, and their last studio album Be, released in 2020.
