Chennai, Jan 6: Actor Kishore, known for his intense portrayals and hard-edged roles, says his upcoming film Mellisai has left a lasting emotional impression on him, both as an actor and as a person. The film, directed by Dhirav, marks a significant shift in Kishore’s on-screen persona.
In Mellisai, Kishore will be seen in a refreshingly simple and grounded role as a physical-education teacher — a far cry from the stern cops and gritty characters he has often portrayed. According to sources close to the project, the film delicately captures the rhythms of everyday life, focusing on small moments, quiet longings, and deeply human emotions.

Reflecting on his experience, Kishore described Mellisai as a film that reconnected him with the essence of acting. “The story spoke about ordinary people carrying unfulfilled dreams, responsibilities, and hope. There were no gimmicks — just honesty,” he said. “This character reminded me why I became an actor in the first place: to stay close to life. I’m deeply thankful to our director, producers, co-actors, and every technician who worked with such care. What makes this film special is that its heart truly belongs to the entire team.”
Written and directed by Dhirav, Mellisai features an ensemble cast that includes Subatra Robert, George Mariyan, Harish Uthaman, and newcomers Dhananya, Jaswant Manikandan, Proaktiv Prabakaran, and Kannan Bharathi in key roles.
The film is produced by Hashtag FDFS Productions, the banner that earlier delivered the critically acclaimed Veppam Kulir Mazhai. Industry insiders say Mellisai unfolds its emotional journey across parallel timelines, touching on themes of love, aspiration, and redemption.
Adding depth to the narrative is the music of Shankar Rangarajan, which is said to form the emotional backbone of the film. The visuals are captured by Devaraj, who makes his debut as a cinematographer with this project.
Sources indicate that the makers are keen on bringing the film to audiences at the earliest. Mellisai is expected to hit theatres in early 2026 and is being positioned as a warm, feel-good drama that offers a quietly uplifting cinematic experience.
