Bengaluru, Jan 8: Actress Aishani Shetty, known for her performances in films such as Vaasthu Prakaara, Nam Gani B.Com Pass and Hondisi Bareyiri, is all set to take on a new role behind the camera. After expressing her desire to direct for a long time, Aishani has officially confirmed her entry into Sandalwood as a director with her debut film titled Kaajana.

Aishani had earlier explored direction through short films, including Kaaji, an experience that strengthened her resolve to helm a feature film. With Kaajana, she is stepping into full-fledged direction for the first time and has also penned the story herself. She describes the title as metaphorical, closely connected to the life and journey of the female protagonist.

The film is said to be a family drama, with Aishani herself playing the lead role. The makers are currently finalising the rest of the cast, and shooting is expected to commence soon.

“The inner world of a woman forms the core of Kaajana. It is a deeply rooted, emotionally layered story, and we wanted the backdrop to feel completely authentic. That is why the entire film will be shot in and around villages near Mangaluru,” Aishani said.

Kaajana will be produced under Aishani Shetty’s own banner, Shakunthale Cinemas. Cinematography will be handled by Shaakahari fame Vishwajith Rao, while music will be composed by Poorna Chandra Tejaswi.

“I am excited to take on multiple responsibilities for this film. Working with a team that truly understands the emotional tone and soul of the story makes this journey even more special,” Aishani added.
