Mangaluru: Guardian Angel Church celebrates Community Day

Mangaluru, Jan 23: Guardian Angel Church, Angelore, celebrated Community Day on the evening of January 18. Fr Naveen Pinto, judicial vicar as well as coordinator of Pastoral Commissions of Mangalore diocese graced the occasion as the chief guest. The immediate past functionaries of the Parish Pastoral Council, Paul Rodrigues (vice president), Lolina D’Souza (secretary) and Renita Menezes (coordinator of Parish Pastoral Commissions) were felicitated for the service they rendered. Six parishioners that excelled in academics and extracurricular activities were also honoured. Roshan Patrao, vice president of the PPC welcomed the gathering. Renita Menezes, secretary of the PPC read the report of parish activities of the past two years, Jacintha Pinto, coordinator of Parish Pastoral Commissions tendered the vote of thanks.

Fr Fredrick Monteiro, parish priest, presided over the programme. Fr Stany Fernandes, resident priest; Fr Naveen Pinto, judicial vicar as well as coordinator of Pastoral Commissions of Mangalore diocese; Roshan Patrao, vice president of the PPC; Renita Menezes, secretary of the PPC; Shalet Quadras, coordinator of Basic Christian Communities; Jacintha Pinto, coordinator of Parish Pastoral Commissions; Sr Poonam Toppo, superior of St Ann’s Providence; and Sr Precilla Menezes, superior of Sisters of Charity, Capitanio were present on the dais.

After the formal programme, the 21 wards of the parish entertained the gathering with various programmes ranging from songs and dance to skits. Special performance from the sisters of the four convents and a surprise performance from the priests of the parish enthralled the audience. The cultural extravaganza concluded with fellowship meal.
