Case filed in Beltangady over house demolition, destruction of belongings

Beltangady, Feb 28: A case has been registered at the Beltangady police station against a man for allegedly demolishing a house and destroying household belongings at Ujire village in the taluk, and for threatening a minor girl who recorded a video of the incident.

The house belonged to Rajeevi, a resident of Kakkarebettu in Ujire village, who had constructed the house and was residing on a government land bearing survey number 406/1 in Ujire village. It is alleged that a local resident of Odal, identified as Rafeeq, demolished the house and threw the household belongings onto the street.

Rajeevi was living in the said house along with her husband and daughter.

According to the complaint, on the morning of February 27, when Rajeevi and her husband had gone to work, Rafeeq noticed that no one was at home, illegally entered the house, damaged it, and also took out the TV, fridge, gas cylinder, furniture, clothes, and grocery items from the house and threw them onto the street. It is further stated in the complaint that when their daughter attempted to record a video of the act, he threatened her.

When the frightened girl started crying loudly, neighbours Thyagaraj and Jaya rushed to the spot and questioned the act, upon which he allegedly abused them in foul language and threatened them as well, the complaint lodged with the Beltangady police stated.

The Beltangady police visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and have registered a case.
