Bantwal, Mar 5: A heap of Aadhaar cards was found on the banks of the Netravathi river near the 10th Mile stone at Farangipete, creating suspicion and concern among residents.
According to reports, on the evening of Tuesday, a local resident noticed several Aadhaar cards floating in the water along the riverbank and immediately informed the gram panchayat authorities. Following the alert, gram panchayat president Ramlan Maripalla and other officials visited the spot and inspected the documents.

Upon verification, it was found that the Aadhaar cards carried addresses of residents from Pudu village, raising serious questions about how the official documents ended up in the river.
Responding to the issue, the gram panchayat president stated that many villagers had applied for corrections and updates to their Aadhaar cards and were waiting for the revised cards to arrive by post. As the cards were delayed, several residents had reportedly taken printouts from cyber centres for their immediate needs. He alleged that although the Aadhaar cards had arrived, they were not distributed to the beneficiaries and instead were found dumped, indirectly blaming the postal department.
The discovery of Aadhaar cards in the river has led to multiple suspicions. Villagers have demanded a thorough investigation to ascertain whether the concerned officials failed to distribute the cards to residents or how exactly the documents ended up in the river.
