Washington, Mar 13: US President Donald Trump on March 11 said his administration is aware of the location of most Iranian sleeper cells in the United States, amid heightened concerns over potential retaliatory attacks following joint US–Israeli strikes on Iranian leadership.
Trump’s remarks came in the wake of strikes that killed top Iranian leaders, including former Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, raising fears that Iranian undercover terrorist networks could act within the US.
“We know where most of them are; we’ve got our eye on all of them,” Trump said when asked about reported sleeper cells in California. He added that “a lot of people came in” due to prior border policies.

Texas officials have also sounded alarms. Governor Greg Abbott highlighted potential sleeper cells after a shooting in Austin by a Senegalese man, Ndiaga Diagne, who killed three people while reportedly wearing clothing with Iranian symbols. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) described the current risk of terrorism as “quite high,” citing the Austin incident and another alleged attack in New York City involving improvised explosives.
Meanwhile, Iran’s newly appointed leader Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Ali Khamenei, issued a statement on March 12 reaffirming Iran’s regional stance. He warned of continued attacks on Gulf Arab neighbors, emphasized the strategic closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and vowed to pursue “justice for the blood of [Iran’s] martyrs.”
Trump underscored the ongoing nature of the conflict, stating, “Right now, they’ve lost their navy, they’ve lost their air force. They have no anti-aircraft apparatus at all. Their leaders are gone, and we could do a lot worse.”
The situation highlights growing US concerns over national security, potential retaliatory attacks by Iranian networks, and the volatile state of Middle East geopolitics.
