Mumbai, Mar 17: In a shocking incident arising out of a domestic dispute, a man allegedly pushed his wife in front of a moving local train at Mulund railway station, leading to her death. The incident occurred in the presence of their 13-year-old son. The accused, identified as Raju Gupta, was arrested within 20 hours by the Mumbai Railway Police’s special action team.
The deceased, Pushpa Gupta, lived with her husband and two children in Ramgad area of Mulund West. The couple reportedly had frequent disputes, and Pushpa had earlier filed a complaint against her husband with local police. Fed up with the ongoing conflicts, she had briefly returned to her parental home in Uttar Pradesh.

In an attempt to resolve the dispute, her brother Kamlesh Kumar, a soldier in the Army, intervened and brought Pushpa and her son back to Mumbai on March 14. However, the couple again got into an argument, following which Pushpa filed another complaint at Mulund police station. They then decided to travel to a relative’s house in Kalwa and purchased tickets from Mulund to Kalwa.
Soon after, Kamlesh realised he had left his ID and ATM card at home. After confirming with Raju that the items were there, he left Pushpa waiting at the station and returned home with his elder son. At the house, a heated argument broke out between Kamlesh and Raju. In a fit of rage, Raju locked Kamlesh inside the house and left with his younger son for Mulund station.
At platform number 1, Raju tried to persuade Pushpa to return home. However, she reportedly demanded a divorce, leading to another argument. During the altercation, Raju allegedly pushed her in front of an oncoming local train. She died on the spot after being run over.
The incident took place around 10:45 am on Saturday. Pushpa was rushed to a government hospital in Mulund but was declared dead during treatment. Police have taken the accused into custody and further investigation is underway.
