Karkala: Christ King PU College celebrates silver jubilee, announces free education for 25 students

Karkala, Apr 7: Christ King Pre-University College, a well-known institution located in the heart of Karkala town, has marked a significant milestone by completing 25 years of dedicated service in the field of education. Renowned across Udupi district for its discipline, quality education, activity-based learning, and excellent academic results, the college has earned a reputation as a student-friendly institution with affordable fees and inclusive admission policies.

On the occasion of its silver jubilee celebrations, the institution has announced a major initiative to support education among the underprivileged. For the academic year 2026–27, the college will provide free education to 25 students from rural and economically weaker backgrounds. This benefit will be extended across both commerce and science streams, as decided by the college management.

Eligible students who appeared for the SSLC examination in 2025–26 from rural and financially disadvantaged backgrounds are invited to apply. Interested candidates can visit the college, submit applications to the principal, and obtain further details. The final selection list will be published after evaluating applications based on various criteria.

The college has also announced several merit-based benefits:

• Students scoring above 96% in SSLC will be granted free admission to commerce and science streams.

• Students securing above 90% marks will receive a 50% fee concession.

• Students from government schools scoring 85% and above will also be eligible for a 50% fee concession.

• Under the sports quota, students achieving at the state level will receive 50% fee concession, while those with national-level achievements will be eligible for free education.

During the academic year 2025–26, the college provided fee concessions worth Rs 62.10 lac under merit and sports categories. Additionally, Rs 18.50 lac was granted as concessions to economically weaker students and families with more than one child studying in the institution. In total, the college extended Rs 80.60 lac in fee waivers during the last academic year.

The institution further stated that students with lower marks but facing financial difficulties may also approach the college, and fee concessions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
