New Delhi, Apr 8: Rapper-singer Badshah has apologised to the National Commission for Women (NCW) over his song “Tateeree” and pledged to support women’s empowerment initiatives, including sponsoring the education of 50 girls from economically weaker sections.

Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, appeared before the commission in connection with a suo motu case taken up following controversy over the song’s lyrics and presentation.

The hearing was chaired by NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, who observed that the song had hurt the dignity and decency of women. She expressed concern over the impact of such content and directed those involved to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.

Also present at the hearing were director Joban Sandhu, Mahavir Singh, and producer Hiten. All parties submitted unconditional written apologies and expressed regret over the harm caused.

During the proceedings, Badshah assured the commission that he would work towards promoting women’s empowerment and would release a positive song on the subject within four months.

“I will work for the upliftment of women and society. I will present a positive song on women’s empowerment within four months and will not be involved in any such activity in future,” he said.

The commission noted that all those present assured it of refraining from such actions going forward.
