Mangaluru, Apr 12: St Agnes School CBSE, Bendore organised an orientation programme for grade X focusing on socio-emotional learning on April 9, in the school hall. The session was intended to guide students and parents as they enter this important academic year, with a focus on discipline, confidence and overall development alongside academics.
The programme commenced on a peaceful note with a prayer song led by the students, creating a calm and positive atmosphere. This was followed by the formal welcome address delivered by Tr Velony.
The esteemed resource person for the day, Dr Shwetha Kamath, AIEF master trainer from Shree Gujarati English Medium High School, was warmly welcomed with a potted plant by Tr Monisha as a token of respect and gratitude.


















The session was subsequently led by Dr Shwetha Kamath, who underscored the significance of socio-emotional learning in a student’s holistic development. She highlighted key areas such as self-awareness, self-management, social responsibility and decision-making, emphasising the importance of understanding and regulating emotions. She also stressed the shared responsibility of parents and children in fostering a supportive environment, particularly during adolescence.
Addressing the impact of hormonal changes, Dr Shwetha advocated empathy, open communication and mutual trust as the foundation of healthy relationships. She further encouraged parents to remain aware of their children’s social circles while allowing them the space to grow independently. She concluded by urging students to focus on personal growth and contribute meaningfully to society.
This was followed by the academic overview presented by Tr Neesha, who provided a clear understanding of the grade 10 curriculum, examination pattern and expectations for the year. She also briefed parents and students about the improvement examination process and its significance.
The session enabled both parents and students to gain clarity on the academic structure and emphasized the importance of consistent preparation.
The programme also included an address by the principal, Sr Maria Sarika AC, who elaborated on the institutional guidelines, school’s code of conduct and established norms that govern student behaviour. She further emphasised the role of discipline, values and character building during this crucial academic year, encouraging students to remain focused and make the best use of the opportunities provided, while also urging parents to support and guide their children effectively.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Tr Sumana, expressing sincere gratitude to the resource person and everyone present for their support and participation. The orientation programme proved to be an insightful and enriching experience, equipping students and parents with valuable guidance to navigate the academic year with confidence and a positive mindset.
