Bengaluru, Apr 13: Allegations of inhumane treatment of stray dogs in Kaggadasapura have triggered widespread outrage, with activists and citizens staging a protest against the incident.
The controversy erupted after reports claimed that dogs were tied in sacks and transported under questionable conditions within the DRDO complex recently.
Condemning the alleged cruelty, animal lovers gathered at Freedom Park on April 11 to voice their protest. Actor Ramya Divya Spandana also joined the demonstration and became emotional while speaking about the incident.

“Just imagining what the dogs might have gone through is painful. I was shocked to learn about this,” she said, breaking down during the protest. She also criticised the alleged negligence, stating that such irresponsible behaviour by an institution was unacceptable.
Ramya demanded that authorities either produce the missing dogs safely or take strict action against those responsible. Reports suggest that more than 20 dogs are currently unaccounted for.
Protesters have also called for stricter implementation of Animal Birth Control (ABC) rules. The demonstration was led by the CV Raman Nagar animal squad along with animal welfare activist Priya Chetty Rajagopal.
A case has been registered at the Mahadevapura police station, and the matter is currently under hearing before the High Court, with the next hearing scheduled for April 16.
Ramya, known for her advocacy for animal welfare, has previously spoken out against similar incidents and continues to raise awareness through public platforms and social media.
