Mangaluru, Apr 15: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru observed Dr B R Ambedkar Jayanti on Tuesday, April 14, with a series of meaningful programmes presented by students from both the primary and secondary sections.
The celebration honoured the extraordinary life, enduring legacy, and visionary ideals of Dr B R Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a steadfast champion of justice and equality.
The students of secondary and senior secondary conducted the programme in Hindi, reflecting the spirit of unity and respect for cultural values. The event was thoughtfully organised by the students of Grade IX, showcasing their dedication and enthusiasm.
The assembly commenced with an all-faith prayer, fostering a spirit of harmony and respect for all religions, and setting a serene and inclusive tone for the programme.
A floral tribute was then offered to the portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar as a mark of deep respect and gratitude by vice principal Sr Teena, teachers Silvia and Nupur, along with student representatives K. Ananya Achar and Pranav Kotekar. The programme continued with a patriotic song presented by the students, filling the atmosphere with a sense of pride and national spirit.

























The students highlighted the significance of the day by speaking about the life, struggles, and invaluable contributions of Dr B R Ambedkar in shaping the Constitution of India and championing the cause of equality. This was followed by the solemn recitation of the Preamble to the Constitution by Daivik K Bangera, with deep faith and respect, reminding everyone of the core values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.
Addressing the gathering, vice principal Sr Teena encouraged the students to uphold the values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, as envisioned by Dr Ambedkar, and emphasised the importance of education in living out these ideals. She also shared practical ways for students to incorporate these values into their daily lives.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ambika Dutta and Andria Saldanha. The event proved to be meaningful and impactful, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present and reinforcing the importance of unity, respect, and social justice. It came to a close with a solemn rendition of the National Anthem, uniting all in a spirit of patriotism.
The campers of KG to Grade V had a vibrant celebration in the auditorium. The programme began with a brief introduction, followed by a soulful prayer song. A warm welcome address was gracefully delivered by Rishel Pinto.
The significance of the day was then highlighted by Thasmayee and Loy, enlightening the young students about the remarkable life and invaluable contributions of Dr B R Ambedkar.
As a mark of reverence, a floral tribute was offered to Dr B R Ambedkar by administrator Sr Carissima, the other dignitaries and the camp representatives. A thoughtful message was delivered by Tr Reshma Aneesh, who emphasised the importance of understanding Dr Ambedkar’s vision, his tireless efforts for equality, his achievements, and the need to imbibe his values in our daily lives.
The event was smoothly compered by Kiara, Mitchelle, Kellon, Meera, Jeev, Sathvik and Ashlyn, and came to a graceful close with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Petrina Lobo.
