Kolkata, Apr 26: Mamata Banerjee on Sunday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of India were misusing security forces to influence the ongoing Assembly elections in the state.
Addressing a rally in the Bhabanipur constituency, Banerjee claimed that central forces and police personnel were being deployed in a biased manner, accusing them of attempting to interfere with the electoral process. She alleged that there were incidents where miscreants tried to seize EVMs and intimidate voters.
The Chief Minister further claimed that such actions were being carried out under the cover of darkness, urging voters to remain vigilant and prevent any attempts to disrupt the polling process.

She also criticised the functioning of law enforcement agencies, alleging that certain officials were acting with political bias and failing to take action impartially. At the same time, she appealed to police personnel to uphold neutrality and serve the public without political influence.
Banerjee expressed confidence in her party’s performance in the elections, stating that strong results in the first phase would be repeated in the next round of voting. She also accused the BJP of resorting to aggressive tactics out of fear of electoral defeat.
The remarks come amid heightened political tensions in West Bengal as the state heads into the next phase of polling.
