Mumbai, Apr 28: Veteran Indian actor Bharat Kapoor passed away on Monday at the age of 80, bringing the curtains down on a long and distinguished career spanning films, theatre, and television.
Kapoor breathed his last at his residence in Mumbai around 3 pm after being unwell for the past few days. The news was confirmed by actor Avtar Gill, who shared a close association with him. Gill said he received a call from Kapoor’s son later in the afternoon informing him of the demise.
The last rites were conducted the same evening in the presence of family members and close friends.

Bharat Kapoor began his acting journey in 1972 and built a career spanning nearly four decades. He was widely recognised for his impactful supporting roles and portrayals of antagonists, earning respect for his consistent performances.
Over the years, he appeared in several notable Hindi films such as Noorie, Ram Balram, Love Story, Bazaar, Ghulami, Aakhree Raasta, Satyamev Jayate, Swarg, Khuda Gawah and Rang.
He continued to remain active in later years with films like Barsaat, Saajan Chale Sasural and Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities, showcasing his adaptability across changing phases of cinema.
Apart from films, Kapoor also made a mark on television with roles in shows such as Campus, Parampara, Rahat, Saans, Amanat, Tara, Chunauti and Kahani Chandrakanta Ki.
His demise marks the end of an era for a generation of viewers who grew up watching his memorable performances across mediums.
