Kolkata, Apr 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday penned an emotional open letter to the people of West Bengal as campaigning for the second phase of Assembly elections concluded, describing his outreach in the state as spiritually uplifting and politically significant.

Addressing the people as “brothers and sisters of West Bengal,” Modi said elections are a sacred festival of democracy and that he felt privileged to take part in the process. He noted that the campaign allowed him to present the development roadmap of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the public.

Through his letter and an accompanying audio message, the Prime Minister said he was expressing his feelings to every family in the state on the final day of campaigning.

Reflecting on his campaign experience, Modi described a “unique energy” during rallies and roadshows, adding that despite the intense heat and a packed schedule, he did not feel tired. “These rallies felt like a pilgrimage. Among the devotees of Maa Kali, it seemed as though I was constantly being filled with new energy,” he said.

He also drew a parallel with the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya in January 2024, recalling the spiritual experience he had during that time.

The Prime Minister highlighted the emotional connection he felt with the people, saying he received numerous letters, messages, and photographs during the campaign, which he continues to read and respond to. He described the affection shown by youth, women, and the elderly as his “greatest treasure.”

Commenting on the public mood, Modi said that youth, farmers, workers, and women in Bengal are eager for development and better opportunities. He stated that people now seek trust and change, indicating growing support for the BJP.
“There has been enough fear; now people want trust, and they want the BJP,” he said.

Reaffirming his commitment, Modi said serving and ensuring the security of Bengal is his responsibility, and he is determined to convert challenges into opportunities. He also expressed confidence that people would unite to celebrate the formation of a BJP government in the state, adding, “Together, we will build a developed Bengal.”
