Karnataka bans obscene songs for student dance performances in schools, colleges

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Apr 30: The department of school education and literacy has issued an important circular strictly prohibiting students from dancing to obscene songs during cultural programmes and annual day celebrations in schools and colleges.

The circular stated that obscene songs can have a negative impact on the mental health of students. It also noted that such content may lead to indiscipline and damage the dignity of educational institutions.

The department has directed all government, aided, and unaided schools across the state to create awareness and take strict measures to prevent children from performing dances to obscene songs.

It has also warned that action will be taken against the head teachers and management of any school found encouraging students to dance to such songs.

As an alternative, the education department has advised teachers to select songs that promote inspiration, patriotism, moral values, respect, and brotherhood.

Very good and sensible decision. The event in the educational institutions should be decent enough to guide and follow our culture and traditions and not to commercialize atall.

Good move by the Karnataka government for maintaining discipline and age appropriate content. Rules on decency, noise control, and public order should apply equally to all events including religious functions and processions.

It is the responsibility of the family and society to bring up our children in an ethical manner. Our religion teaches us to do the right thing and we should follow it whole heartedly. Money matters are the primary cause for the deuteriation of society. Money should be earned in the rightful manner. Educational institutions are the temples of knowledge and they should inculcate in our students the right way of living. What does it profit for a person to win the whole world and lose one's soul. Thank you and God bless each and every one of us.
