Mumbai, Aug 26: Members of the Hindi film industry gathered in Mumbai on Tuesday to pay their last respects to veteran filmmaker Kuku Kohli, who passed away on August 25 at the age of 77 following a cardiac arrest.

Kohli’s wife, veteran actor Aruna Irani, arrived at the crematorium with family members and was visibly emotional as she bid farewell to her husband.

Among those who attended the funeral were Bollywood actors Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif, filmmaker Rohit Shetty, action director Sham Kaushal and veteran actors Raza Murad and Deepak Parashar.

Kuku Kohli is best remembered for Phool Aur Kaante, which marked actor Ajay Devgn’s Bollywood debut. The filmmaker went on to direct several popular films, including Suhaag, Haqeeqat, Zulmi, Anari No. 1 and Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa.

His last directorial venture was Woh Tera Naam Tha, released in 2004.

Kohli and Aruna Irani were married in 1990. His sudden demise left the family and members of the film fraternity mourning his loss.

Industry colleagues, including Rohit Shetty, Sham Kaushal and Raza Murad, joined the family during the final rites and paid their respects to the late filmmaker.
