Udupi, May 1: The 2nd additional district and sessions court, Udupi (Circuit Bench, Karkala), has sentenced a Kerala native to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 for attempting to murder his employer by throwing hot chemical acid on him following a minor dispute over work.
The convicted accused has been identified as Ratheesh K T (42), a native of Kerala.
According to the case, on February 28, 2022, Sudheer P A from Thrissur district in Kerala had come to the plantation of Ajith Augustine at Mandadijaddu in Char village of Hebri taluk. During the visit, Sudheer reportedly advised Ratheesh, saying, “You do not do rubber tapping work properly. Learn by observing the workers here.” This led to a verbal altercation between the two.

Holding a grudge over the incident, Ratheesh allegedly came to the place where Sudheer was sleeping at around 1 am on March 2 and threw hot chemical acid on his face and chest before fleeing the spot.
Severely injured Sudheer later lodged a complaint at Hebri police station, based on which a case of attempted murder was registered.
After conducting a detailed investigation, police filed the charge sheet before the court. After hearing the case and examining the evidence, the court delivered its final verdict, sentencing Ratheesh to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 30,000.
The convict Ratheesh K T is currently serving his sentence at Hiriyadka prison.
