Mangaluru, May 1: In a progressive stride towards enhancing patient experience and service efficiency, Father Muller Medical College Hospital unveiled its revamped medical store (No. 70) at the Utility Building, ushering in a new era of swift, accurate, and patient-friendly pharmaceutical care. The facility was formally blessed and inaugurated by Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director, FMCI.
In his address, Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo emphasized the collective responsibility of every healthcare facilitator—administrators, doctors, and pharmacists—in ensuring that each patient encounter reflects compassion and efficiency. He noted that the medical store represents the final touchpoint in a patient’s hospital journey, and when managed with care and precision, it leaves a lasting impression of the institution’s ethos, ‘Heal & Comfort’.

The newly redesigned medical store introduces a Single Window – Single Dispensing System, a transformative approach that significantly reduces turnaround time and enhances service clarity. By integrating the Kranium Hospital Management System, the pharmacy has effectively transitioned into a paperless dispensing model, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and environmental responsibility.
Key highlights of the revamped facility:
• Reduced turnaround time: Streamlined workflows to ensure faster dispensing of medications.
• Single window dispensing: Consolidation of Medical Store 1 and 2 into a unified system, eliminating patient confusion and delays.
• Enhanced accessibility: Thoughtfully designed pathways cater to all patients, including the specially abled, ensuring dignity and ease of access.
• Weather-protected connectivity: Direct internal access from the OPD block allows uninterrupted movement regardless of external conditions.
• QR code-enabled medicines: Introduction of QR-based verification to minimize dispensing errors and enhance patient safety.
• Affordable & competitive pricing: Commitment to making quality medicines accessible at patient-friendly costs.
• Patient-centric service: Friendly, well-trained staff focused on effective communication and public relations.
• Health card registration: Dedicated support for Father Muller Health Card enrolment, simplifying future visits.
The reorganization also addresses previous spatial and operational challenges, ensuring a cohesive and efficient dispensing process. The unified counter system eliminates earlier inconveniences caused by fragmented services, thereby significantly improving patient flow.
Sr Mary Zeenath Suares, Iin-charge of the medical store, expressed her gratitude to the management for their unwavering support and guidance. She reaffirmed her commitment to implementing the director’s vision of a patient-centric pharmacy that prioritizes efficiency and care.
She also extended heartfelt thanks to Fr George Jeevan Sequeira, administrator, FMMCH, Fr Rohan Dias, assistant administrator, and Fr Nilesh Crasta, former assistant administrator, for their instrumental role in the successful renovation and consolidation of the facility.
The blessing ceremony was attended by Dr Michael Sathumayor, Fr George Jeevan Sequeira, members of the management committee, and the dedicated staff of the medical store, all of whom witnessed this significant advancement in patient service delivery.
