Bahrain: Karnataka Social Club hosts Mangalorean Food Fiesta

Media Release

Bahrain, May 2: The Karnataka Social Club-Bahrain a community-based organisation with over a 50-year history held its first theme-based Mangalorean Food Fiesta on Friday May 1. The event served as a wonderful way for the Mangalurean community to celebrate their roots and share memories of their hometown, Mangaluru.

The event commenced with a throwball competition that featured more than 50 participants. The older members too joined in sportingly with great energy, showing age did not deter them from playing with their junior counterparts for this sporting encounter.

The food pavilion offered a wide variety of Mangalurean delicacies like pork bafat, sorpotel, kube mutli and sannas. A special counter offered health foods for the fitness conscious folks.

Several stalls offered people the opportunity to take part in games and skill.

The foodies in particular were then treated to an invigorating experience on stage as members showcased their talents in an hour of nonstop dance performances and songs.

As a gesture of gratitude, members were honoured with fresh roses as food volunteers or well-wishers.

The event concluded with a typical Mangalurean Baila session with tracks from the legend, Lorna and the contemporaries 7 notes and Godgodo. It was an evening worth remembering as per the feedback invoking memories of big fat Mangalurean weddings back home in Mangaluru.
