Mangaluru: Case filed against woman for obstructing police duty

Mangaluru, May 4: A case has been registered at Bajpe police station against a woman named Sandhya from Bengaluru on charges of obstructing police duty.

As Friday was a holiday, there was heavy crowd at Kateel temple. Hence, heavy vehicles were being diverted towards Kinnigoli from Malligeyangadi junction, while light vehicles were allowed towards Kateel temple. During the afternoon, a woman travelling in a tempo traveller reportedly shouted at police personnel, demanding that the vehicle be allowed towards the temple.

Despite attempts by the police to explain the situation, the woman allegedly stood in the middle of the road and disrupted traffic movement. In his complaint, Chidananda Kate of Bajpe police station stated that the woman publicly abused them while they were on duty in uniform and obstructed their work.

The woman, who identified herself as Sandhya, allegedly threatened the police saying, “We have come from Bengaluru, we will teach you a lesson, we will record your video and upload it on social media.” She is also said to have used abusive language. The complainant has requested that action be taken against her.
