Lakhimpur Kheri, May 6: A six-year-old girl’s heartfelt appeal on social media for repairing a waterlogged road near her home has prompted swift action from the district administration in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri.

Manavi Singh, a Class 1 student from Salempur Kon village, posted a video addressing the district magistrate, requesting repair of the damaged road. In the clip, she is seen wading through a waterlogged stretch while appealing, “DM uncle, you are very good… please get the road by my house repaired.”

The video quickly went viral and caught the attention of District Magistrate Anjani Kumar Singh.

Responding promptly, the DM visited the village along with officials, met the child and her family, and assured them of immediate action. He also interacted with Manavi and offered her sweets.

During the inspection, officials found that the brick road connecting her house to the main road had become uneven and was inundated due to rainwater and drainage overflow.

The district magistrate issued on-the-spot instructions for urgent repairs to ease the difficulties faced by residents.

He also flagged concerns over unplanned development in the area and cautioned locals against irregular plotting. Residents were advised to verify availability of basic infrastructure such as drainage, electricity, and road connectivity before purchasing land.
