Mangaluru, May 8: The audio and trailer launch ceremony of the Tulu film ‘Kajja’, presented by Sham Institution, was held with great fanfare at the Town Hall in Mangaluru. The event, which featured several prominent figures from the film industry and politics, highlighted the growing global reach of Tulu cinema.
Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, who was the guest of honor, remarked that Tulu has achieved international recognition through dramas and films. “Tulu is a language loved by everyone. Following the success of ‘Tudar’, this same team has produced ‘Kajja’, and I am confident it will resonate with the audience,” he said, noting that the Tulu industry is expanding rapidly with over 150 releases to date.





The ceremony was inaugurated by Laxminarayana Asranna, hereditary trustee of Kateel Shri Durgaparameshwari Temple. He emphasized that cinema is a powerful tool for spreading local culture and traditions worldwide and expressed his delight at the industry's broadening market.
Actor Vasishta Simha, who officially released the audio and trailer, spoke about his personal connection to the language. “I learned Tulu through my interactions with the people here. During the filming of ‘Kajja’, the cast and crew lived like one family,” he shared, expressing high expectations for the movie’s success.
Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly U T Khader noted that the rise of Tulu cinema has dispelled fears that modern technology would overshadow the language. MLA Vedavyas Kamath also addressed the gathering, urging the public to support the local industry by watching Tulu films in theaters.
Other dignitaries present included director Vijaykumar Kodialbail, Sarvothama Shetty (Abu Dhabi), Harikrishna Punaroor, Arvind Bolar, MP Shenoy, Vishwanath Shetty (Dubai), Satish Bandale, and producer Vishanth Menezes.
The film features a story and lyrics by Mohan Raj, with music by Likhith Prasad Shetty.
