Fr Denis D’Sa assumes charge as new parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi

Udupi, May 8: Fr Denis D’Sa officially assumed charge as the new parish priest of the prestigious Mother of Sorrows Church on May 7.

Fr Denis D’Sa, who was transferred from St Anne's Church, was warmly welcomed to the parish by parish priest Fr Charles Menezes and vice president Maxim D’Souza upon his arrival at the church.

The charge-taking ceremony held at the church was presided over by Fr Steven D’Souza, Chancellor as representative of the bishop.

Several priests and dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Fr J B Saldanha of Puttur Church, assistant parish priest Fr Leo Praveen D’Souza of Mother of Sorrows Church, Fr Vijay D’Souza, principal of St Mary’s Institutions, Fr George D’Souza of Moodubelle Church, Fr Stephen Rodrigues, Fr Anil D’Souza of Udyavar Church, Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves of Milagres Cathedral, Fr Vishal Lobo of Perampally Church, Fr Henry Mascarenhas of Thottam Church, retired priest Fr William Martis, editor of Uzwad weekly Fr Alwyn, and Fr Ashwin Aranha were present.

Meanwhile, Fr Charles Menezes, who had been serving as the parish priest of the Udupi church, has been transferred as the parish priest of Shirva church.
