Shanghai, May 8: India’s Simranjeet Kaur advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s recurve individual event at the Archery World Cup Stage 2 in Shanghai on Friday.
Competing on a World Cup final stage for the first time, Simranjeet produced an impressive performance to defeat Fong You Jhu of Chinese Taipei 6-0 in the quarter-finals.
The Indian archer delivered consistent scores of 27, 28 and 29 across the three ends while also doubling her opponent’s count of perfect 10s with two maximum shots.

Meanwhile, India’s women’s recurve team assured the country of its first medal at the tournament after registering a stunning victory over record 10-time Olympic champions South Korea women's national archery team in the semi-finals on Thursday.
The Indian trio of Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat and teenage archer Kumkum Mohod defeated the South Korean team 5-1 to enter the final.
India will now face second-seeded China women's national archery team in the gold medal clash scheduled for Sunday.
