Mangaluru, May 10: In a heartwarming display of humanity and communal harmony, the residents of Bandikotte in Ullal have set a beautiful example for society. At a time when divisions over religion and caste often make headlines, this neighbourhood prioritized empathy and brotherhood over their own religious festivities.
The incident unfolded during the much-awaited inauguration ceremony of a local temple in Bandikotte. The celebratory events were scheduled to commence at 4 pm. However, right around that time, a local resident named Hydros suddenly fell severely ill. Displaying immediate concern, the people gathered at the temple premises rushed to his aid and shifted him to a nearby hospital. Tragically, despite medical efforts, Hydros passed away.

As the news of his demise reached the neighborhood, the temple committee and the gathered devotees took a unanimous and noble decision. Showing immense respect and solidarity, they decided to halt the temple's celebratory feast and special rituals. The joyous events were put on hold until Hydros's final rites and burial were completed around 9:30 pm.
The organizers and locals firmly believed that it was inappropriate to celebrate while a neighboring family was plunged into mourning. Balancing the joy of the temple inauguration with the grief of losing a neighbor, the people of Bandikotte chose humanity above all else. This touching gesture has been widely appreciated by the public, proving that the spirit of 'we are all one' continues to thrive in the region.
